Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a typical project take?
The timeline depends on the size and complexity of your project. A single landing page can usually be designed and built in about 10–15 days once all content is ready. A multi-page site or a small portfolio typically takes 20–30 days. If your project includes complex animations, CMS integration or 3D interactions, expect around 30–60 days. Things that can extend the timeline include waiting on content, late feedback, or new features added mid-project.
Example timeline
- Discovery & planning: 3–5 days
- Visual design: 5–10 days
- Development & integration: 10–20 days
- Review & revisions: 3–5 days
- Launch & optimisation: 2–3 days
If you need to move faster, a "fast track" is possible when you have all content ready and can provide feedback quickly. We'll discuss the options during our discovery call.
How do you price your work?
My pricing is tailored to the value I deliver. Every quote includes design, responsive build, accessibility, basic SEO and performance considerations. I don't nickel-and-dime – you receive a complete, polished site.
Included
- Custom design & layout
- Responsive front-end build with clean code
- Semantic HTML, ARIA roles and baseline accessibility
- On-page SEO fundamentals (meta tags, headings, sitemap)
- Performance best practices
What affects cost
- Number of pages or unique templates
- Dynamic features such as carousels, forms or 3D effects
- CMS or e-commerce integration
- Animations & interaction complexity
- Copywriting & imagery sourcing
After our discovery session I'll send a detailed scope document and fixed quote. There are no surprises – you always know what you're paying for and when payments are due.
What do I need to provide?
To start, I'll need a clear idea of your goals and who your website needs to serve. Bringing together as much information as possible helps the process run smoothly.
Checklist
- Your main objectives and success metrics
- Target audience personas or segments
- Brand assets: logo, colours, typography, style guides
- Copy for each page (or at least a draft outline)
- Images or photography guidelines (I can recommend sources if you don't have them)
- Links to websites you like or dislike and why
- Any legal requirements such as privacy policies or terms
If you don't have all of these, that's okay – I can help you create a plan to gather what's missing.
How many revisions are included?
My packages include two rounds of revisions by default. A revision round means you collect all your feedback at once, and I adjust the design or build accordingly. This keeps the project moving efficiently.
- Round 1: After initial design/development you review and share consolidated feedback.
- Round 2: After updates you review again and final tweaks are made.
Minor tweaks within the agreed scope are always welcome. If you need more changes or decide to shift direction significantly, we can add extra revision rounds or adjust the scope. I'll advise when a request moves beyond the original agreement.
Do you offer maintenance?
Yes. I offer ongoing support plans tailored to your needs. Regular maintenance ensures your site stays secure, up-to-date and performing well.
What maintenance covers
- Content management system updates and security patches
- Backup configuration and monitoring
- Uptime checks and performance monitoring
- Minor tweaks and bug fixes
- Periodic accessibility and SEO health checks
What it doesn't cover
- Major new features or redesigns
- Large content overhauls
- Marketing campaigns or advanced SEO work
If you need more than maintenance, we can plan a new phase of work or retainer to handle larger improvements.
Will my site be SEO optimised?
Every site I build includes solid on-page SEO foundations. While I can't guarantee first-page rankings, I give your site the best start possible.
What's included
- Semantic HTML with proper heading structure
- Optimised page titles and meta descriptions
- Clean URLs and logical navigation
- Image alt tags and compression
- XML sitemap and robots.txt configured as needed
- Fast loading times for better Core Web Vitals
For more competitive niches or advanced SEO work, I can collaborate with an SEO specialist or develop a content strategy that goes beyond on-page fundamentals.
Can you help with hosting and domains?
I'll help you choose and set up the right hosting and domain for your project. You remain the owner of all accounts.
What I provide
- Recommendations for reliable hosting providers (e.g., Netlify, Vercel, managed WordPress)
- Assistance with domain registration and DNS configuration
- Deployment setup and SSL certificates
All hosting and domain costs are billed directly to you. If you prefer a fully managed solution, we can discuss a hosting maintenance add-on.
